The New Blancpain Fifty Fathoms Tech BOC IV
A Timepiece with a Mission: Blancpain’s Latest Dive Watch Funds Marine Conservation
Blancpain has once again reinforced its commitment to ocean conservation with the launch of the Fifty Fathoms Tech BOC IV, a limited edition dive watch that funds marine research and restoration. Only 100 pieces will be made, each supporting the newly established Blancpain x Sulubaaï Marine Research Center in the Philippines.
A Legacy of Ocean Commitment
Blancpain’s relationship with the ocean runs deep. Since creating the original Fifty Fathoms in 1953—the first modern dive watch—the brand has been a strong advocate for marine preservation. Through its Ocean Commitment program, Blancpain has backed countless initiatives, from funding underwater exploration to protecting fragile marine ecosystems.
The new BOC IV continues this legacy by directly financing the Sea Academy project, which establishes marine protected areas in Shark Fin Bay, Palawan. With every watch sold, €1,000 goes towards the center’s operations, totaling €100,000 in funding.
A Dive Watch With Purpose
This isn’t just an aesthetic variation of an existing Fifty Fathoms—it’s a serious dive tool built for functionality and endurance. Borrowing from the Tech Gombessa, the BOC IV features:
45mm Grade 23 titanium case – lightweight yet robust
Unidirectional domed ceramic bezel – excellent grip, even with gloves
“Absolute black” dial – absorbs 97% of light for high underwater readability
Helium escape valve – engineered for saturation diving
Calibre 1315A movement – 120-hour power reserve with anti-magnetic silicon balance spring
The watch is paired with an integrated rubber strap for superior comfort and fit. Through the sapphire caseback, the BOC logo-adorned 18k gold rotor is visible, a subtle nod to the mission behind the timepiece.
More Than a Watch
Each Fifty Fathoms Tech BOC IV comes in a Pelicase™ box, along with a numbered print by renowned photographer Laurent Ballesta, whose award-winning underwater images capture the marine life Blancpain helps protect. Owners of the BOC IV also receive an invitation to join the Blancpain Ocean Commitment Circle, an exclusive group of enthusiasts dedicated to ocean preservation.
With a retail price of 19,600 CHF, this timepiece is not just a collector’s item—it’s a statement of purpose. Whether on land or beneath the waves, the Fifty Fathoms Tech BOC IV represents the fusion of horology and conservation, proving that time can do more than just tell the hours—it can make a difference.
